Tangala House
Tangala House is a luxurious family home set on the banks of the Zambezi River, just 15 kilometres upstream of Victoria Falls. Tangala House is available to for bookings over the Christmas and Easter Holidays periods, and again for June, July and August. Any other dates throughout the year are on a request basis only. The House has a minimum stay requirement of 3 nights, with an occupancy of at least 4 guests.
The house has four bedrooms (three of which are en suite), and is Ideal for a family safari. There is a fourth bathroom, and a separate toilet.
The master bedroom faces the Zambezi River and has a king-size teak bed, a sitting area and sofa, a bathroom with a large double bath set into railway sleepers, and a shower. Bedroom II also faces the River, and has a queen-size four-poster iron bed, with a walk-in bath and shower. Bedroom III has a king-size teak bed, with walk-in bathroom with a large double bath and shower. Bedroom IV has twin beds and a bathroom across the passageway, with a cast iron bath.
In addition, there is a children’s playroom and a spacious kitchen-dining room. The large kitchen/dining room measures 13m x 6m, with the front wall taken up by a 5m-long window, and is well equipped, with fridge and freezer, fan-assisted double oven, gas hob, ceramic double sinks, a separate drinks fridge and a microwave oven. The large dining table seats 12.
With glass throughout, designed to keep out insects, you enjoy wonderful views across the Zambezi and may even see elephant herds drinking on the opposite bank. Birding can also be excellent, with over 145 species to date having been spotted from the kitchen window.
Tangala is staffed with a house assistant, 2 grounds men and 3 friendly dogs. The house assistant assists with cooking, housekeeping and laundry.
Guests can also enjoy relaxing in and around the swimming pool, which is 11m x 5m, with an extra shallow area for children and bench seating. In front of the house is a lawn, which drops down to wild riverine grassland and then to the Zambezi River itself. The house has 250m of private river frontage, with no properties on either side. The veranda easily seats ten, and is open thatch with steps on to the lawn and towards the swimming pool and the terrace.
From the House you can enjoy stunning panoramic river views and exceptional sunsets. From Tangala you can explore the Zambezi by banana boat with your own professional guide who will take you walking on islands in the river, game viewing and bird watching. Or you might prefer relax and have a picnic lunch set up for you on your own island in the Zambezi.
