Taita Falcon Lodge | Livingstone Lodges

Taita Falcon Lodge is perched on the edge of the Batoka Gorge, some 226 metres above rapid 17 of the Zambezi River, Taita Falcon Lodge offers its guests excellent accommodation amidst breath-taking surroundings. Situated in a natural bush environment, the lodge offers both privacy and comfort. The indigenous gardens at the lodge are home to an abundance of bird species. You also have to chance to see the magnificent black eagle, peregrine falcon, and the rare taita falcon.

Accommodation is in seven en suite chalets, all made from the area’s naturally occurring materials, which lends a level of authenticity, without losing out on comfort. Much care and attention has gone into the chalet design and furnishings. A spacious en suite bathroom provides you with all the amenities, and the soft furnishings are carefully co-ordinated with furniture which is made using indigenous materials by local craftsmen. The reed walls of the chalet are at three quarter height. All beds are furnished with mosquito nets. Each chalet also has a private sun garden, and outdoor shower.

Paths, leading from the chalets weave their way across the plateau, and link them to the lodge’s central living area, viewing deck, swimming pool, dining area and bar. The viewing deck offers guests a spectacular view of the Batoka Gorge and the River, some 200 metres below. In the evenings you can relax with a sun downer and watch the glorious sunset.

Dinners are usually a three course buffet, with an excellent selection of vegetables and salads. Dining is in an open sided area, or around the pool, when there is a barbecue.

You can enjoy a variety of activities – from guided bush and bird walks, short hikes, cultural village tours, visits to Victoria Falls, sunset game viewing cruises and Livingstone town tours (including local market visit and Museum entry). Game drives are also offered.

Additional activities can also be arranged by the Lodge: Chobe day trips, rafting, scenic flights, elephant back safari, horseback safaris, walks, abseiling, Bungi jumping. The lodge also runs multi day hiking trails in the Gorge.
