The countdown has begun to what has been described as the biggest New Years party in Zimbabwe - the Falls Fest 2011. And with the smashing success of the 2010 event, we should all be rearing to go in preparation for the 2011 event of the year. |

The Victoria Falls Fest, or Falls Fest to those in the know, is as annual New Year’s Eve bash hosted by Ilala Lodge, a hotel set close to the world renowned Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Sponsored by Victoria Falls Rest Camp Lodges, Venues for Africa.com, Ilala Lodge as well as Sound Event Management, the 2010/11 event was a resounding success, attracting crowds from far and wide. The bar was therefore set very high, but we are confident that this year’s festival will be our biggest and best event by far. And we aim to please. |

Last years event saw some of the biggest musical acts from South Africa and Zimbabwe perform and wow the crowd, making it the perfect ending to an eventful 2010. With the 2010 World Cup but a distant memory, the Falls Fest was the perfect reminder of what Africa can do with an event of this magnitude. |

The line-up at last years event was huge, drawing crowds from all over Africa. Nationally acclaimed bands included Kazz Douie, a budding young artist making her mark in the UK; The First Descent, a popular Cape Town bred band; Evicted, a Zimbabwean Afro-Rock band; Mann Friday, a group of London rockers; Ghapi, an artist whose big voice is only matched by his big hair; and of course the ever-popular Parlotones. Rounding up the line-up was DJ Francis, playing funky beats to keep the crowd moving. |

The festival was spread over two exciting nights, with the final event held on New Years Eve. Fellow partygoers brought in the New Year with style as an array of party bands performed well into the New Year. |

The event was stylishly hosted by Ilala Lodge, a premier Victoria Falls accommodation, boasting easy access to this majestic and spectacular attraction. |

|
An estimated 5 000 partygoers descended into Zimbabwe for this two day party extravaganza, awaking the area for what was one of the most memorable New Years Eve parties ever. The Parlotones were a class act, starting the celebrations off on a high and energetic note. |

The 2009/10 event was equally successful, with renowned South African band Watershed stealing the show. As promised, the 2010/11 event was even bigger and better. And, in keeping with the trend, the 2011/12 event will be the biggest one yet. Still in the planning phase, if the success of its predecessors are anything to go by, our next New Years Eve bash at Victoria Falls will go down in history the best event yet. Set your calendar for the party of the year for the Falls Fest 2011. |
